GROUND HANDLING – RIX GH

The professional day of every RIX GH employee is based on four priorities – care fore customer safety, time, outstanding service and the surrounding environment. Despite the powerful competition among ground handling service providers, ever since flights started at Riga International Airport every customer has stayed together with us. Long-term business partners are our biggest pride and proof of the quality of our services.

RIX GH offers a full range of services for providing ground handling services for passenger and cargo planes of any size:

  • professional passenger, baggage and cargo handling service;
  • administrative services;
  • preparation of weight & balance documents;
  • maintenance, coordination and supervision of aircraft;
  • provision of any additional services to aircraft, flight crews and passengers.

RIX GH is an ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / ISO 50001 certified ground handling service provider.

SAFETY

The RIX GH ground handling service has been introduced and operates fully in accordance with the RIX security management system (SMS). As part of SMS, supervision of apron security is carried out every day, including aircraft surface security checks which are conducted regularly. RIX provides a strict system for investigating, analysing and notifying violations of security rules.

Punctuality has always been the top priority among our operating quality indicators. We seriously investigate any cases of delays – if we are responsible for this, we will immediately improve or change the erstwhile ground handling system procedure, adapting it individually to each of our customers.

Over 300 highly qualified employees work at RIX GH, who regularly participate in training to improve their professional abilities. In 2000, RIX established its own training centre with the goal of facilitating the professional development of employees in a real work environment, focusing on providing very high safety and quality. Personnel training is conducted by professional instructors, who have attained the relevant certificates from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and other internationally important educational institutions (ECAC, ACI).

THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT

We sort waste. We try to do without paper documents and as far as possible circulate and store information electronically. If the air temperature is not extremely low, we use only environmentally friendly electric tugs for passenger baggage transportation. As technology develops and we are able to develop the specifics of the Latvian climate, we plan to replace our apron vehicles’ diesel engines with electric motors. We realise that natural resources are not inexhaustible and any promise made for the benefit of the environment is an investment in our joint future.

RIX GH has introduced a quality assurance system and environment management system in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 standards. Since September 2018, we are also certified in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 50001:2011 energy management standard.
